Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus (1972)
This is a good example if you’re looking at use of pre-recorded material used in a performance, plus depictions of nature.
There’s not much more to say about this utterly brilliant piece, save to listen and watch the score unfold as the taped recordings of Arctic wildlife is combined with the orchestral writing.
