Kassia – Troparion

Kassia, or Cassia, was a Byzantine-Greek composer, hymn write and poet who was born in Constantinople in 810 – modern day Istanbul.

We have about 50 of her hymns surviving, and she is the only known woman whose music appears in the Byzantine liturgy.
