Composed in 1774 when the composer was 18, his 29th symphony follows the traditional four movements of that time:
Allegro moderato (sonata form)
Andante in D major
Menuetto: Allegretto – Trio
Allegro con spirito
This is one of Mozart’s better known early symphonies, alongside No.25. It feels intimate and chamber-music-like, but still has inventiveness around the sequence in the first subject of the first movement, and the fiery ‘spirito’ of the finale.
