Baroque Tuesday: Leonora Duarte – Sinfonia No 6 for 5-part viol consort (c.1660)

Leonora Duarte (1610 – 1678?) was a Baroque Flemish composer and musician, born in Antwerp.

She belonged to a wealthy Portuguese-Jewish family who were major patrons of the arts and music, and is the author of seven five-part Sinfonias for viol consort — the only known seventeenth-century viol music written by a woman.
